When we renovated Cleaner Quicker Car Wash installed a 40 horsepower central vacuum system because it was so much more powerful than stand-alone units (we tell everyone not to let them suck the fillings out of their teeth), therefore faster and easier-to-use, yet quiet. Most stanchions have two 25 foot long hoses so two people can vacuum at once and can easily reach even the rear of an SUV, van, or truck. Solid tubular extensions give better reach with less hassle, and their flat heads get into tough-to-reach places. Best of all, they are FREE with any wash or for a small fee without a wash.
The system is on during the day for instant access for our customers and detailers, so it could be a big power consumer. To be more “Green” we installed a Variable Speed Drive. This reduces the amperage draw significantly when hoses are not in use and then slowly increases it as more hoses are used, reducing power consumption by up to 40%.
